Things to Do in Copenhagen when you are ALIVE!! Tell me how it feels to be alive!!!

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 2340 hours CopenhagenAnother beautiful day in the neighbourhood. Didn't roll out of bed until 1305 hours. I thought it was a mistake, but sure enough - got a "late" start to the day. No worries! Still ended up with a nice full day crammed with fun and interesting stuff. Went to the 7-11 at the Raadhuspladtz for lunch. 23.50 DKK for two mini's and a coke. Minis are pigs in

Three out of Five Metallica shows can't be wrong...

Show Number 1OMG!!! The show was aces! The forum is really tiny. Ten thousand people tiny. Doors were at 1730 and we went in at 1840 hours. Show starts at 1900 hours. We were no where near the rail. I was obsessed about being in front of Rob's bass cabinets. LOL It's "my spot"!!! Mastadon were ok. Like 70s power metal sludge. At the break, we shimmied forward. I told my mate as soon as Lamb of

Things to do in Londontown when you are Dead

July 18, 2009 2325 hoursLife always seems better in London. Don't know why. Maybe it's the air. or the weather. or the underground. or the general attitude. But things were looking up. Took the Easy Bus into the city. Bless the Easy Bus. £18 for two people from Stansted to Victoria. A nice leisurely van ride into the city. I got to see parts of London I never would. Why bother. Final Results of the Recent T.R. Knight Poll

I decided to pull a Jimi Hendrix and abruptly end the recent poll in which I asked readers to say whether or not they would have walked away from Grey's Anatomy (and $14 million) if they were T. R. Knight. The reasons I chose to pull the plug is because there is another current event that I believe will make a much more interesting poll. Plus, I seriously doubt if there would have been a

The Costumes

We recently went to visit my family in lovely Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and while there, my big girls and their Aunt Lacey did a lip-sync for us. So, naturally I whipped up some costumes to add the finishing touches. Thankfully my mom keeps some fabric around and has the same sewing machine that I have. Perfect! They were super easy and nothing fabulous, but they turned out really cute. I am glad

Please Take A Moment To Vote In the Current T.R. Knight/Grey's Anatomy Poll... Thank You

As many of you know, actor T.R. Knight will not be on Grey's Anatomy when it returns for the 2009-2010 season. Knight has cited trust issues with series creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes and the diminished screen time of his character (George O'Malley) as the reasons he decided to walk away from Grey's. In the process of leaving the hit show, Knight forfeits $14 million! Some would say

The Market Skirt and the Apricot Tree

Before you read this post, you HAVE to visit this site to see where my inspiration came from.Done? Okay, now is that not the CUTEST skirt you have ever seen? When I saw this I knew I needed to make one for all of the girlies. And I couldn't wait for the tutorial (I need some patience!). So, here is my take on it-- not quite as cute as hers, but not bad. Oh, and if you are as in love with these

Granola in the Crockpot...Yummy!

It is hot, hot, hot here on the south coast of BC! We're having a heatwave and I can hardly wait until it cools down a bit! I've brought out my crockpot(s) in an effort to keep the kitchen cool, the other night I made Lasagna in it and it was fabulous!! Here's one of my breakfast favourites and this is too good not to share! It's truly delish ! Peanut Butter Granola (Makes 16-20 servings)

Final Results of the Recent Reader's Choice Poll

In the recent poll where I asked readers to select the movie that I should watch next, Christian Bale's second outing as Batman (The Dark Knight) dusted the competition. This poll was scheduled to close on August 2nd, but I called it early because I didn't see any of the other 4 movies surpassing The Dark Knight in votes. Here are the final results:The Dark Knight- 50%The Lion King- 20%Men In

Thank You!

Here's a quick little Thank you card that's so easy to make. The size is 4" x 4" and it's great to make a few to keep on hand when need something fast! You will need extra postage for this size if you mail it in a square envelope. You'll have to check with Canada Post. You could also use a regular invitation size envelope (4 3/8" x 5 3/4"), but it's really a perfect size for hand delivering.

A Catalogue Case!

I saw this box in the new Stampin'Up! catalogue and thought it was such a great idea! I just had to make one too. Whoever thought of this unique way to close it, is a genius! I love how the little flaps are on top of the lid with jumbo eyelets and ribbon to hold it together. The Box #2 Bigz XL die is one of my favourite things....it just needs a new name! I can't keep calling it Box #2...it's

1980s Teen Movie Triple Feature On TCM Friday Night

Turner Classic Movies, best known as the home of films by such icons as Humphrey Bogart and Bette Davis, has done an excellent job over the last few years of adding quality movies made post-1980 to its lineup. On Friday July 24th starting at 8 pm EST, TCM screens a trio of teen films from the era when it was practically standard for Kenny Loggins to have a song on a soundtrack and C. Thomas

Director of "Banned Sprite Ad" Sets the Record Straight

Film maker Max Isaacson is making a name for himself with a fake Sprite ad that he wrote, directed and produced. The fake spot connects the pleasures of oral sex with the thirst quenching taste of Sprite. A lot of people thought the banned "commercial" was real, which is understandable if you've seen some of the spots that do air in Europe. Isaacson has issued a press statement explaining that

Jaxon's John Deere Quilt

My very first nephew on the May side of the family is turning 1 in a few weeks. His birthday party is going to be a John Deere tractor theme and so I made him-- what else? -- a John Deere quilt! I loved this quilt by Crazy Mom Quilts and used her measurements to create my own pattern. It was a really fun quilt to make. And for the first time I used contrasting thread, instead of white. Please Take A Moment To Vote In the Current "What Movie Should Malcolm Watch Next?" Poll... Thank You

As do most of you, I watch my fair share of movies. However, for various reasons, some of the big movies have slipped through the cracks for me. This is where you come in for the current poll. I've selected five movies that I'm interested in seeing, but haven't yet. Whichever movie receives the most votes is the one that I will watch next. Once I watch it, I will post a review. Conan's Humorous "Exposé" of The Fox News Channel

During his Wednesday night monologue on The Tonight Show, Conan O'Brien took a jab at the Fox News Channel's well-deserved reputation as a right-wing station. He showed a clip of President Barack Obama's ceremonial first pitch at Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game as it actually happened and then showed footage of how it was "portrayed" by The Fox News Channel. I hope that even those who take as

Final Results of the Recent Oscar Poll

In the recent poll in which I asked you your thoughts on the Academy Award's decision to increase the number of Best Picture nominees from 5 to 10, just over half of you said that it's a bad idea. Those who gave their thoughts in the comments section of the post provided sound theories as to why they felt the way they did. I think it's too soon to tell whether or not it's a good or bad idea.

A Parade of Quilts? Count me in! This parade of quilts is about your first quilt and your most recent quilt. I first started really enjoying sewing when I learned how to make rag quilts. Another great AJFA event! They always are, but of course, each one is special. This year Harold hosted the BBQ. This was not an ordinary BBQ. When I walked in Nick, Taran, and Jay were taking the shells off of shrimp. They had about three pounds of shrimp. I"m like, how are you going to put that on a BBQ??? Not to worry. Harold smiled and held up the bacon! I knew I was in for a treat! I watched

Thursday Thirteen #74: Shows That Never Jumped the Shark

In November of 2007, I wrote a Thursday Thirteen in which I listed TV shows that "jumped the shark". As you may know, the term "jump the shark" refers to the point in a series' run when it begins its slide into mediocrity or worse. For this week's T13, I'm flipping the script and listing TV series that I think never jumped. I can watch the following 13 shows at any point in their run and be

Old School Friday: From Band To Solo

For this week's OSF, I chose two artists who took the solo route after they had group success. The first is Len Barry. As the frontman of the Dovells, Barry sang lead on a string of dance craze hits in the early 1960s. Their first and biggest hit (The Bristol Stomp) is clip #1 in the player below. In 1965, Barry had a huge hit with the song 1, 2, 3. However, I decided to go with his 1966

R.I.P. Gale Storm and Karl Malden

The Grim Reaper continues to take its toll on the entertainment world. On Saturday, actress and singer Gale Storm died at the age of 87. In the "out of sight, out of mind" world of pop culture, Storm is somewhat obscure today. However, in the 1950s, she was one of the biggest stars around. From 1952-1955, Gale starred in the sitcom My Little Margie. I discovered this show as a kid one
