The Three Musketeers (Barbie style)

And here they are. . . finally finished! The seven-pieced Halloween costumes. Whew! That was a lot of work. And, on about the 12th of October, I volunteered to make the same costumes for a friend's three daughters. Fun times! First, here is a look at my inspiration:And my little musketeers: The boots are made from duct tape-- it is awesome to work with and fairly durable. I was inspired by this

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Happy Halloween everyone! I took this photo a couple of years ago at one of our local pumpkin patches, don't those pumpkins look great?I hope you all have lots of chocolate, laughter and fun today! Halloween has always been one of my favourite times of the year! I'm busy carving this years pumpkins, but here's a photo of last years creations. How do you like the little squash with the parsnip

Envelope Tutorial

Here is my first picture tutorial, I hope you like it! I really love to make 4" x 4" cards, but what I don't like, is that it's so hard to find a really nice envelope to put them in. I know you can put them into a regular envie... and maybe it's just me...but it really bugs me to have the card sliding around! So, I took an envelope apart and made my own template which I've tried to make into a

Scallop Butterfly Card

This card was very easy and quick to make because I used the Scallop Square Bigz Clear Die and my Big Shot. I placed the fold of the card just below the top edge of the die, so that when I ran it through the Big Shot, it just cut the 3 outside edges.  I CASED it from this beautiful card here.  I just loved her colour choices and the way the background paper is made!I stamped the swirls and

Moolah For Hulu?

It's been reported that Hulu, the awesome (and FREE) online streaming service, may start charging a subscription fee for video content sometime in 2010. Since it's introduction in 2007, Hulu has been a haven for millions of viewers interested in checking out the old (Dragnet, The Big Valley, Doogie Howswer, M.D., etc.), the new (Family Guy, Glee, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, etc.) and much,

Mount Rushmore: TV Cars

For this installment of my periodic series in which I select who/what I think are the 4 ultimate in a given category, I'm focusing on automobiles of the small screen. 1. The Batmobile (Batman, 1966-1968)2. The General Lee (The Dukes of Hazzard, 1979-1985)- Although I'm not crazy about the Confederate flag on the roof, there's no denying that this is an iconic car.3. The Ford Gran Torino (Starsky

Final Results of the Twitter Poll

If we are to believe the results of the recent poll, it appears that most who haven't joined the Twitter revolution have zero interest in getting an account. Although I have a Twitter account, I basically use it to pimp my blog posts. You can get the picture of me in a floor-length fur coat, wide brim hat, and Plexiglass platform shoes (with fish swimming in the heels) out of your head! Others

Fall Colours!

This stamps set has to be one of my all time faves! It's so versatile, each and every time it turns out beautiful! To colour the tree I used my blender pen and dipped it right into the ink pad. I started with the lightest colour, Crushed Curry, then blended in Old Olive and Dusty Durango. To smooth out the effect I shaded in with Close to Cocoa Ink. I then overstamped in Creamy Caramel with

100th Post, Quilt, and Giveaway!

I am so excited that I finally have something to share with you! If you will remember, a while back ago (a LONG while back!), I made two other quilts similar to this in different colors. I have plans to make four, and this is the third of the set.I like how it turned out, but it is for a boy. Do you think there is too much pink in it for a boy? I am hoping not.And I tried a scrappy binding this

A Little Hello and a How-To!

Hello, my favorite friends in blogland! I very much miss sharing fun crafty goodness. . . I am sewing like a crazy mad woman-- but I can't show you anything yet-- darn it! So, I thought I would share a little how-to in the mean time. I am always suprised when I read on other crafty blogs about how dreaded it is to change the color of serger thread. I consider myself kinda lazy when it comes to

Thursday Thirteen #76: Favorite Baseball Movies

Since we are in the midst of the MLB playoffs, I decided to list (in alphabetical order) 13 of my favorite films about America's pastime. Even though the Detroit Tigers choked away their chance at the playoffs (how the hell can you blow a 3-game lead with only 4 left to play?!), I haven't let that disappointment ruin my enjoyment of the baseball postseason. What are some of your favorite baseball

Long Ago and Far Away. . .

Since I don't have any new projects that I can share with you yet, I thought I would share an older quilt that I haven't ever posted about.I made this little quilt for K3, with the intent to make two more for the big girls. But, as you all know, I have crafting ADD and lost interest in this fabric. I decided I wanted to do something different for their room. So how is it decorated today? you ask.

Vintage Autumn

Hi everyone! Here's a card that I made a few years ago when I first started stamping and I love the way it turned out. I pull it out every Fall because it reminds me of the beautiful patterns the leaves make when they've landed all over the grass and the walks.I brayered the background and sponged bits of colour here and there...sorry... I made it so long ago, I can't remember exactly what the

Apparently, all was not well at Studio 8H between Tracy and fellow cast members Chris Kattan and Cheri Oteri. Facebook Lesson #13: A "Poke" Could Send You To the Pokey

I've given up saying, "Now I've seen it all" because of stories like this one. Last month, Shannon D. Jackson of Hendersonville, TN was arrested for "poking" an acquaintance on Facebook. Although "poking" sounds like something Larry Dallas might do, it's normally harmless. It's basically the online equivalent of saying "what's up?!"I said "normally harmless" because if a person slaps you with

Gingersnap Cookies...delish!

Here's a wonderful and old cookie recipe to share with you. They are perfect for Fall or really anytime! If you make then 1" size they are hard and crispy, if you make them into 2" size, they are softer and chewy. Both ways are equally yummalicious!I must say they look beautiful on my pretty plate. Cranberries from the Cranberry Festival...now, what's not to love about these little guys!! They're so pretty, round and red, I love to make my own cranberry sauce (with Grand Marnier...yummm!), to bake with them and I love to put them around tea lights, so festive. I just love looking at them, they make me happy! These are some of the colours we are enjoying this year...aren't they fantastic?

Happy 60th Birthday Sigourney Weaver

Yes, believe it or not, Ellen Ripley has reached the 6-0 milestone.  That rare mix of talent, smarts, sex appeal and badassosity*, it's those qualities that are why Sigourney has been able to stay in demand during her 30-plus year acting career. Last year, Sigourney mentioned that she may be starring in an Alien spinoff film that would focus on Ellen Ripley instead of the Aliens.  Don't laugh.

Mount Rushmore: Songs of the 1980s

For installment #5 of my periodic series in which I select who/what I think are the 4 ultimate in a given category, I'm focusing on songs from the 1980s. I had to make some hard choices (my apologies to Def Leppard and The Police just to name two), but for me, the following quartet best typify the decade of Jem, Jordache jeans, and the Jheri curl.1. The "To Do" List

I sat down the other night and made a list of all the sewing projects that I need to accomplish by the end of October. Ummm, it was sort of overwhelming. I have 28 seperate items for the girlies and my Halloween costumes (Halloween costumes have to be fabulous, do they not?), 7 items to sew for my stint as a pattern tester, and several other un-named (suprise) projects that need to be done. Our Sunday Drive

What a fabulous time we (my husband and I) had going for a drive. We are so lucky because we live in the most beautiful place in the world! This picture is taken at Spanish Banks, on the way to the University (UBC). The weather was beautiful and we had the top down on my little convertable. We stopped here and shared a tray of chips and a drink while we sat and admired the view. Stunning

Halloween Treat Box

Now this is a seriously cute little Treat Box for your special little goblins! I used a half piece of cardstock, measuring 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", then scored it at 2" 4" 6" and 8". Turn it around and score it at 2". The 2" section is your bottom. Cut up to the line and cut the 1/2" score right out. I stamped it all and then glued the bottom together. For the handle I got some wire (from the hardware

The Sesame Street Gang Is Political... Who Knew?!

Earlier this week, First Lady Michelle Obama made an appearance on Sesame Street. She showed up to extol the virtues of gardening and healthy eating when out of nowhere, Big Bird comes on the scene and asks her some pointed questions about President Barack Obama. I had no idea that Big Bird was auditioning for a spot on Fox. Does this mean that the "C" in CTW (The Children's Television Workshop)
