I've just been playing with My Digital Studio and I absolutely love it!Of course I jumped right in and started fiddling around and I haven't even read the instructions or help manual...but I am sooooo excited with this page I created and I can't believe how easy it was!! Maybe, just maybe I can finally get some

Happy Birthday Dick Clark!

Dick Clark turned 80 years old today. When I think of Dick Clark, lots of sounds and images come to mind. As I type this, "Bandstand Boogie" is playing on a continuous loop in my head... and that's a good thing because it's got a good beat and... well, you know the rest.Below is a clip of the "Oldest Living Teenager" encountering The Dynamic Duo:

Baby Ragged Squares

Another baby quilt finished. . . This is a baby sized version of my first Ragged Squares quilt from way-back-when. I had some extra blocks left over and I thought it would be perfect for a baby boy. Turned out pretty cute. . . Not too girly, I hope? And I tried something different on the binding for this one. I thought that everyone who made 'real' quilts hand-stitched the binding on the back.

Ribbon Tutorial

Here is the ribbon tutorial as promised!  Before we start the tutorial, this picture shows what the bottom of your box will look like...nice and flat!  Nothing makes me crazier than a pretty box that wobbles and won't sit properly!Step 1. Starting with your box facing up, place your ribbon across it, making sure you have a good length that is extra. That would be the cut end we're talking about

Christmas Gift Box

This is the perfect little box for the perfect little gift! I used the Pizza Box template pattern that Jen del Muro shared on Splitcoaststampers.  It uses 1 piece of cardstock measuring 6" x 11". It is so cute and so easy to make and perfect for all kinds of gifties! For this little box, I used Kraft cardstock and stamped the snowflake with Whisper White beforeI did any assembly. As soon as I can

...than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. ~Ecclesiasties 2:24People have asked me recently how it's going with the two girls. My response has been fairly consistent."I'm not having fun."Don't get me wrong: We're doing quite well. The girls seem to have adjusted marvelously. We've got a solid routine. They eat well. They sleep well (well, naps are different, but bedtime is fine).

Sisterly Love. . .

Not only do I have three girls of my own, but I am also one of three girls (have I mentioned that I love girls?). Both of my sisters came to visit about a week ago, along with my nephew. Fun times. . . And. . . lucky me! They actually wanted to sew while they were here! Can you believe it? I can't really. Scallop Envelope Gift Box

Well, I haven't been on my blog for ages...it's time to do a little catching up!This is such a pretty little box and so versatile! It could hold chocolate (always a good idea!) or in this sample, it holds 3" x 3" notecards and envelopes. I die cut 2 scallop envelopes, trimmed the bottom edges and attached them together using sticky strip.  I left one of the flaps up and the other I folded down

Rocket Scientist

Wahoo! Something finished AND photographed! Thanks for all the ideas on taking decent indoor pics. This little quilt is a variation on the Scatter Sunshine quilt-- just going with square angles instead of wonky ones. I really kind of like it. And I am really liking the lines for the quilting. . . and it is SOO much faster than stippling! The fabric is from Keri Beyer's Rocket Scientist line.

Please Take A Moment To Vote In the "What 80s Movie Should Malcolm Watch Next?" Poll... Thank You

Because the recent poll where I asked readers to vote for the movie they thought I should watch next received such a positive response, I thought I'd do a sequel... with a twist. This time I've selected five movies from the 1980s that I'm interested in seeing, but haven't. The movie with the most votes is the one I will watch next. Once I watch it, I'll post a review. Fun with FOE

I have discovered a new toy. . . FOE!!! Or fold-over-elastic, in case you are like I was a couple months ago and had no idea what the heck FOE meant. It is this fabulous, pretty, shiny elastic that comes in every color of the rainbow-- and the best part? It has a crease down the middle of it that allows you to fold it over an edge of fabric and zigzag over the top of it. Here is a tutorial I

Steven Tyler Remaining with Aerosmith

It looks as if stories reporting Steven Tyler's departure from Aerosmith were premature. On Tuesday night, Tyler appeared onstage with The Joe Perry Project. For more on the latest installment of As the Band Turns, please check out the following story:Steven Tyler Staying with Aerosmith

Remembrance Day

Today is Remebrance Day, it's a day for us to honour our soldiers and wear our poppies with great respect and pride.  It's a day that is very important to me and my family.  Each year we watch the planes flying over our house, in perfect formation. The empty space representing the missing soldier and his plane always makes me cry.I think of the soldiers that went to war so long ago, leaving their

Vintage Postcard

Hi everyoneHere's another Christmas card to share with you. I just love this set and I love the vintage feeling of this little postcard. I distressed the edges with Stampin'Up's! A Fancy Fabric Fling. . .

I haven't ever really worked with fancy fabrics-- they scared me a little truthfully. But I found some in the clearance racks that I just couldn't live without. And it was so much fun! I used Pink Fig patterns, once again to make some fancy, frilly, girly outfits. One thing I did learn-- you need to check the washing instructions on the fabric bolt for all fabrics you are not familiar with! (

Jack and the Jerk To Host the 82nd Academy Awards!

My disappointment over Hugh Jackman not returning has just subsided... it's been announced that Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will be co-hosting the 82nd annual Academy Awards ceremony! Although Alec is a first-timer, this will be Steve's 3rd time presiding over the awards show (he hosted it previously in 2001 and 2003). Even if the nominees list turns out to be a snoozer, I'm confident that
