Costume Party: The Musketeers, Part 5

Hey there!  Sorry it's been a while. . . But here you have it!  Another piece of the Musketeer Costume.  Before I start, a couple of quick notes:  ***First, the sizing on all the pieces is for a size 5, approximately.  To make smaller or larger sizes, you will have to adjust the measurements.***  ***Also, while I enjoy making semi-elaborate costumes, they are just costumes and often I simplify or

Pop Culture Trivia # 107: The One-Hit Wonder Edition

Since Sept. 25th is National One-Hit Wonder Day, this themed quiz is about the artists whose chart success expired once they reached the 15-minute mark.  As many of you know, there is no concrete definition of what constitutes a one-hit wonder.  For this quiz, the criteria I used is any performer who recorded only one song that reached the U.S. Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is best known

You shouldn’t stay with someone just because of the sex

Emma says... 'You shouldn’t stay with someone just because of the sex, no matter how good it is. Surely you have to put up with her for the other 99 per cent of the time when you’re not in the sack? It’s not fair on her because she’s probably getting negative vibes from you. Besides, she’s not the only girl who’s good in bed, is she?'

Wanted: Your Opinion

Another question for all of my PDF pattern users:How do you feel about hand-drawn patterns versus digital patterns?I am still working on the 'Baptism Dress Pattern', but I really want it to be done well.  My personal opinion is that a well made hand-drawn pattern works just as well as a digitized one, but since I won't be purchasing my own patterns, I thought I better ask you guys.Sooooo, what

Booglie Eyes

Here's a quick Halloween share for you! I made these two cards last year with my Haunted House Cuttlebug folder and some Yellow/Gold Twinkling H20's. The stamp set is one of my favourite Halloween sets,  but it retired long ago...it's called Booglie Eyes.  I inked up the embossing folder using my brayer and Whisper White craft ink to give it a foggy look. Here's the little ghostie doing the

Loving the Newsprint DSP!

I love this card...it's a total case from Jen's blog.  I found it when I was blog surfing ages ago... blog surfing is one of my favourite things to do!  When I was putting this card together, I found it needed just a little something extra so I added the background circles with Crumb Cake ink.  I used an old retired set but when we did this at my last class, I wanted to use something current so I

Valerie Brown of Josie & the Pussycats Makes Saturday Morning Cartoon History

On September 12, 1970, Josie & the Pussycats made its transition from comic book to CBS Saturday morning cartoon.  One of the characters making the transition (Valerie) is significant because she became the first female African-American cast member on a regular Saturday-morning cartoon.Valerie almost didn't make her historic appearance on Josie & the Pussycats.  In preparation for the cartoon,

Happy 40th Anniversary....to us!

Yesterday was a such a special day for us, Gary and I celebrated our 40th anniversary!  I've been trying to find a picture of us together and although the quality of this one isn't super great, I think it's a great shot of us at our daughters wedding.  I don't know where the time has gone!  We've had lots of love, laughter and adventures throughout our marriage.  We've had crazy times and truly

The Retro Mix Playlist For 9/3/10

When I got to the studio on Friday evening, one of my worst fears when it comes to doing my show came true... I forgot my playlist at home!  What could have been a disaster turned into a fairly solid show.  Fortunately, I was able to recall parts of what I had planned to play.  Listener requests helped out too! Although I proved to myself I can do a show without a playlist, I don't plan on going

Mikko plays bass on "Beautiful". Check out their Facebook page and Apocalyptica.com for updates and tour dates. They are playing sold out shows in the USA right now. Cooking With Mikko

I had the honor of interviewing Mikko Siren from Apocalyptica when they played in Philadelphia on 28 August 2010. He is charming, witting, charming, well travelled, and well, ..... charming. I did find myself loosing myself in his crystal blue eyes and oh so deep dimples. He's more than just a pretty face behind a drum kit. A lot of the interview veered off track and onto my favourite topic. . .

My Easy Card Layers

Hi everyone, well I just don't know how to get a document into my blog, so I've cut and pasted my chart for you! This is a handy chart I made to keep on my craft table and it makes it really easy to cut the layers for my cards. When I first started making cards I used the guessing game method which resulted in a lot of work, crazy dimensions and lots of wasted cardstock and time! It’s pretty easy
